  1. Wow! Very inspiring podcast! Honestly I just can’t get over the fact that Ryan lost his job because he started a succesful small business on the side. What a mean person was his boss. He probably did this to make sure he wouldn’t become a competitor… To fire Ryan was just the worst thing to do, what a stupid and not open minded business person.

Very nice episode and good luck to Ryan!

    • I agree, I can only assume that Ryan ended up taking away business from this guy!

    • It’s a great example of why real freedom comes from knowing how to create value yourself (entrepreneurship).

Leaving your life subject to the irrational whims of others (i.e. bosses, bade managers, etc.) leave you at risk.

  2. Hi guys,

this interview is so awesome, I’m so glad that I took the time and listened to it.
It is so great to see, how Ryan figured out how to differentiate his business from every other business in the fitness market.

For me, this is still the most important point, that decides on success or failure. Of course lots of other facts come into play, but personal branding might be one of the most important facts.
It encourages me to go on with my personal site. I heard again, that I’m on the right way!

  3. Great interview guys! Met you both in Chicago as well. Thanks for telling this story!

  4. This episode was so inspiring! And even more amazing this great story is from a guy in my home town. I don’t live there anymore but still that added another level of “I can do this” to it.
By the way the link for Edmonton Boot Camp is wrong the town he is from is called “Edmond” and so is his website :) Not being a hater just thought you would want to know.
Keep producing more stuff like this episode!

  5. Anyone heard from Ryan recently?

I have tried to reach out to him a couple of times in the past few months and gotten no response.
